Thanks for visiting my website. I am a Tokyo-based writer, photographer and editor.
During over 10 years in Japan I have written several hundred features for publications such as National Geographic News, Discover Magazine, Wired Magazine, the Japan Times, the JAL and ANA inflight magazines and the Japanese-language edition of Newsweek. From November 2009 to November 2011 I edited the magazine of the European Chambers of Commerce in Japan, EURObiZ Japan. PDFs of the magazine can be downloaded here.
Before becoming a writer-photographer I worked as an English teacher, proof-reader, researcher for a Japanese newspaper in London, and as a Japanese-English translator. I spent 18 months on a Japanese government scholarship at Tokyo University in 2002 and 2003. I speak and read Japanese fluently.
